We’;d like to introduce Scott, a DIY guru featured on Hometalk and the blogger behind Saws on Skates.? Remember when we told you all about the Hometalk #Shareathon?? Well Scott was a participant and boy are we excited that he was because his project is amazing.? Scott decided to focus on showing fans how a small project using stencils can make a big impact on a space.?? The first thing he did was browse the large collection of craft size stencils on our website and chose the Fusion Craft Stencillinen sheets, a funky geometric pattern.

Scott decided that he was going to stencil a lamp base but not just any lamp base, a custom made one.? He has the free plans and the how-to featured on his site, Saws on Skates. This is what he was starting with:

Once Scott had a base of a lamp, he painted it a pretty blue-green color using?Behr Gem Turquoise.

Now he was ready to start stenciling! Scott placed the Fusion Craft Stencil on the lamp base and used painter’;s tape to hold it in place.

He poured his Bittersweet Chocolate Brown acrylic craft paint onto a plate or paint tray.? Then he lightly coated his Dense Foam Roller and rolled off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel

Using a light amount of pressure, he rolled the paint onto the stencil.

Scott lifted the stencil to reveal the fun geometric pattern.

Once the entire lamp base was stenciled, he assembled his lamp. For assembly information, please check out Scott’;s blog.

Are you ready to see how Scott’;s DIY designer lamp turned out?? Here it is!

Scott had this to say about stenciling, “;The instructions are easy to follow and the results are nothing less than AMAZING!”;? We totally agree that this small stencil project is very buzz-worthy.

Scott also comments, “;This project looks complicated, but is easy to do. You too can have a designer looking lamp that you made yourself.”;? That’;s awesome!

Tell us, what do you think of this stenciled lamp idea? Leave us a comment below.

Can’t get enough stencil fun?

There's a new Sublime Floss palette! Laurel Canyon is inspired by the legendary, rock-n-roll hippie hideaway here in Los Angeles. Think of bungalows tucked into hillsides overgrown with bougainvillea. Imagine parties where Joni Mitchell casually picks up a guitar and Eric Clapton is transfixed. Picture deep jewel tones like you'd find in a cabin, on your favorite wool throw, the colors of terra cotta and wild peacocks...

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where we share meals together, where we sit over coffee and cake with friends, where we work at the table and homework is done (and lost). Kitchens see a lot of traffic and have to deal with smells, steam, heat and condensation. They need to be welcoming, homely places but also functional spaces that work efficiently, whether you have a tiny galley kitchen or a large space that’s great for entertaining. Once any initial installation or building work has been done, or your pots and pans are unpacked, it’s easy to overlook this crucial room in the house. Yet it’s a space you spend a lot of time in – the hub of the house. If your kitchen is feeling a bit dated or unloved, here are 8 things you can do to give it a quick makeover without touching a paintbrush or assembling any furniture.

We’re no stranger to sprucing up our space on a dime, and now we’re giving you a little DIY inspo to take your dorm from blah to beautiful with this wire wall grid hanger, perfect for displaying all your art prints, class schedules and haphazardly stuck Post-Its. Read on for the full how-to.?
